As a wholesale supplier, we understand that our customers prefer to market our products with their own brand. To do so is simple:
Client:
A Minnesota printer whose client was a meat and cheese wholesaler
Product:
Customized meat packaging tags
Challenge:
This printer’s client needed to grab attention and compete successfully with other products throughout select grocery stores in Central Wisconsin and Western Minnesota. They wanted to create packaging that was unique and attractive, yet durable. Rather than a traditional label affixed to the product, they envisioned a tag approach but didn’t have actual specs in mind. The printer knew that once these tags are applied to their summer sausage, they must withstand the rigors of bulk packaging, transportation and store refrigeration. The tags had to catch a shopper’s eye without looking tattered, dull or faded. When the meat wholesaler’s current vendor couldn't meet this challenge, this printer recommended Western States.
Solution:
We created: a 2.5” x 3” 10pt Polar Stock printed with 4 spot colors, laminated on 2 sides with a hole drilled and #5 white twine strung in the upper left hand corner, sheeted in stacks of 1,000 and packed in boxes. This labor-intensive solution took six weeks to finish, but the end-result was well worth the wait and coincided well with the summer sausages’ aging process before packing and distribution.
This product tag allowed the wholesaler to showcase their product to existing and prospective buyers, and pick up additional space in several stores. As a result, this customer has since moved all of their product label business to our Minnesota printer.
