I’ve reviewed thousands of resumes during my career. It amazes me how poorly many people represent themselves. A select group of candidates have submitted resumes that made it into my Resume Hall of Shame. Their blunders are so eye-popping that I’ve saved them to review and laugh at every now and then. Here’s a selection.
“We are not opposed to moving and I like the Shawano area. In fact this is were I Deer Hunt.”
Nice spelling error. And I’m really impressed that you deer hunt and like the Shawano area. So why are you applying for a job near Milwaukee?
“I want to get employed by a professional company that’s shows its employees the respect they wanna recieve.I want to be hired in a full time position with other options avaible.”
I wonder what other options that would be? Full-time pay for part-time hours? Can anyone give me the correct number of spelling and grammar errors in his two sentences?
“Employment History None, MI”
Is there a city called None in Michigan, or does this applicant mean he doesn’t have an employment history in Michigan?
“I am a perfectionist who proofreads his work many times to insure tyhat there are no errors. I earned my Bachelors degree from Maqruette University”
Irony, anyone? I guess you should have proofread it one more time.
And my all-time favorite was this handwritten note on a cover letter:
“(Note!) This is for informational purpose only. If you are still interested I will send you another one done more Professionally.”
Hmmm, I’ll get back to you on that, but don’t hold your breath.
